1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. ___ This is where we get the word Rapture from. This scripture. Rapture means to be caught up. Now there are several factions on when it happens, and then those who do not believe in the rapture at all. I my self am more on the line of it happening right before the Great tribulations, and this is due to the scripture. But before we get to those scriptures, I am going to tell you the basic arguments people use against it. 1. Those verses were added. This argument they try to use mostly against those who use the King James Bible, but they will even use it against their own bibles if they say the same scriptures on the matter. They have absolutely no proof of this statement, basically they say this anytime they disagree with a scripture. It can be even a scripture about lying, if they feel it is okay to lie, they will make this kind of ridiculous claim. Often they use politically correct Bibles. (and change the words to suit their own needs. Which is very evil on both accounts.) I will give a link showing a man who does just that at the end of this. He goes on to say change what the scripture say when he is giving reference to them. He even goes on to throw Paul down by saying he was just painting a pretty picture, and then implies he got the idea from his heritage and from the pegan beliefs around. That is the first and most likely argument you will see when someone is trying to disprove the Rapture. 2. Those who say the Bible is not literal/ This is a new doctrine. Now why did I put these both together? Because they often go hand and hand together. Most of the time the people that are against the Rapture, say the Bible is not literal. (Meaning they Also do not believe about the creation account.) And then they go on normally to say this is a new Doctrine from the 1800s. (Ignoring the Verses in the Bible.) They will be angry and accuse you. "How dare you, You use scripture together!" That is no joke. I have been told this. Then normally they will go and try and use irreverent scripture together. They are hypocrites. Often 1 and 2 come together to try and disprove the Rapture. Now I have explained the two arguments against it. And the Flaws of them. (first one beliefs whatever suits them. second one gets mad at you for using scripture together.) I have never seen a proper argument against the Rapture. Anytime they have used scripture, they then try doing number two, or number one. And any who deny the Word of God, is not lead by God. Now let me give you some scripture that support the Rapture. Matthew 24:39-42 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. ____ This scripture. If you use this one, false prophets and teachers will try and say it was added, or try and say the word women was added. This is ludicrous. If I was to read it in greek, and it did not say women, does it change what the verse is saying at all or not? It does not. Do not be taken in by them trying that. Again, they are fine with Bibles that deny eternal life, the virgin birth, the Deity of Christ, the Holy Trinity. Luke 21:34-36 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. ____ Now why did I post this one? Luke 21 talks about the end times, and the things to come, like the great tribulation. The Lord gives us warning not to let evil overtake our hearts, and to be watching for him. Pray always, they ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass. Jesus says nothing useless, and would not say such a thing if he did not mean it. Often you will hear "How dare you use that Verse with this other verse." on this one. But you might again hear the first argument. Daniel 12:1-3 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. ___ This one, it is very important, especially the first verse. It tells of a time of great trouble, and at that time when it comes. Shall the great prince stand for the people. (prince being a name for angels in this case.) This one just agrees with 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. But now, the greatest set of proofs for when the Rapture happens. Revelation 3:10 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. ___ Now the Lord, he is talking about the hour of temptation. This hour is the Great Tribulation. Next point, he says which shall come upon all the world. Meaning there is no place you are going to go that the hour of temptation is not going to effect. It is to try them that dwell on the earth. Now 11 times from my understanding does "Them that dwell upon the earth." appear in the book of revelation. In all accounts of it, it is talking about those who did not believe in the truth. That is Jesus. Now during the third temple, There will be two Prophets that stand up. Revelation 11:3-6 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. ___ The whole world, all of them that dwell in it, will hate these two, and they will rejoice when the Dragon kills the two. (Much to the worlds dismay, the Lord brings them back alive three days later.) Revelation 3:10 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. ___ This makes more sense. Now I will say this. Many things happen, and happen more and more till the end comes. The Rapture is what keeps us from the hour of temptation though. Now some say, we get to see part of the reign of the Anti-Christ. The thing is, this is not a valid argument, because he is already reigning, He has fooled over a billion people in this world already, and he has been with us for hundreds of years. The time of the great falling away has and is happening. The Son of perdition is shown. If you do not know who he is. 2 Thessalonians 2. And the Book of Daniel show more than enough who he is. I will give you a hint though. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. ___ He is a man that looks wonderful, yet goes against the scripture daily in his teachings. And He even exalts himself. The leader of the "alter christus". Now, The book of revelation gave a good proof of the Rapture being before the Great tribulation. The argument you will hear falls under category number two. They try and say the book of revelation is not a book of prophecy, foretelling the future, but a history book. (It used to be taught such quite commonly, this is ignorance though.) americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac1005.asp This man does many of the examples I gave of trying to disprove the Rapture. I recommend you read it, but only if you keep in mind to check the scriptures, because he takes more than one out of context. (Which he accuses those who believe in the rapture of doing. Yet he even changes words to scriptures to benefit what he is saying. Like Matthew 24:23-26, he says many false prophets will rise and say the end of the world is coming, yet the scripture warns instead to be wary of those who preach Jesus is over there, or the second coming has happened. Or that they are Jesus. Completely different from what he said.) Now if you have questions pertaining to any of this, please feel free to ask. The recommended reading is Matthew 24 tonight. But be wary, if you read it out of any Bible other than the King James, they take away some key scriptures, and words most of the time. God bless you all.
