1 Timothy 6:10-12 For the love of money is the root of all evils. Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains. But you, as a person dedicated to God, keep away from all that. Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness. Compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession for in the presence of many witnesses. In Paul’s instructions to Timothy, we see here a warning about financial gain. The previous 9 verses describe that some people had been preaching that faith in Christ is a road to financial gain. The instruction is for Timothy to “flee from all this” and pursue all the things in verse 11. We should do the same. We are to seek Christ and have faith in Him whether financial blessing comes to us or not. Do not lose your faith or grieve the absence of financial wealth. Trust in God, who has your life in His hands and is able to provide all that you need. Seek first His kingdom. (Matthew 6) Verse/Commentary courtesy of Verse-A-Day app.
