(1). Will someone please tell me where I can buy a good DVD of THE LEGEND OF LIZZIE BORDEN? (2). Tonight I watched PROPHECY for the first time since it was released in 1979, the same year as ALIEN. PROPHECY was a flop; its easy to see why. It was filmed under a veil of secrecy, and there was controversy over the choice of effects artists. The effects are generally poor and highly unconvincing. The monster, a mutated bear, extra large, is never identified AS a bear, trying to regain its even more mutated cub. It seems also to be part submarine, as it crosses a foggy lake at night entirely underwater, never taking a breath. We never know what happens to Armand Assante or Victoria Racimo, playing major characters, and we dont learn if Talia Shires baby is deformed. In the last quarter of the movie, there are several dialogue scenes viewed from a distance with no close-ups, two-shots or anything but these long, static, distant scenes. Director was John Frankenheimer in a weak period. Its as if he simply dropped the movie and walked away.
