1 year after Haiyan: Tacloban city mayor is complaining; but other mayors of equally devastated towns just opted to be thankful and patient - see the difference! Tacloban City mayor Alfred Romualdez has chosen to be sour and unpleasant amid all the painful and unfolding realities tied up with the foreboding and certainly immense reconstruction and rebuilding challenges. On the contrary, in the face of the equally disturbing disappointments tied up with the gargantuan requirement for a full and speedy recovery, I happened to come across with and capture the respective demeanor of a number of other mayors of municipalities also severely ravaged by Haiyan, theirs however is a sweet and pleasant chorus of grateful appreciation and simple expression of thankfulness not only to the nations of the world, the countless individuals, people and organizations, companies, NGOs and International Humanitarian Groups who have come and helped them during those immensely trying times, but also to the Aquino Administration for its help way from the start and up to the present - its continuing support to their respective rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. Bernard Kirblat, a senior official of UNCHR, during a testimonial dinner in Tanauan, November 7, 2014, couldnt help but singled out mayor Pel Tecson for his dynamic and exceptional display of leadership, making recovery and rebuilding efforts in Tanauan way way faster and ahead compared to other Yolanda affected municipalities.
