10/1/13 Isaiah Chapter 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As high as the heavens are above the earth so high are my ways above yours ways and my thoughts above your thoughts. Worship God only! He is King of Kings and Lord of lords, dwelling in unapproachable Light. He is taking care of us. He is not only committed to caring for us, but He is also absolutely capable of doing so. Rest in Him, those that are weary, for this is a form of worship. Though self-flagellation has gone out of style, many of God’s children drive themselves like racehorses. They whip themselves into action, ignoring how exhausted they are. They forget that God is sovereign and that His ways are higher than theirs. Underneath their driven service, they may secretly resent God as a harsh taskmaster. Their worship of God is lukewarm, because God is no longer their first love. God’s invitation never changes; (Matthew 11:28 come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.) Worship God by resting peacefully in His Presence.
