10/7/2014 - 9:30 PM - UPDATE Well, Val had quite a day and it started early - before I got there. When I got there, I saw a Krispy Kreme cup sitting on the desk. I asked who brought Krispy Kreme? He said, Craig (ST). I looked at the cup and it held donut holes. I asked if he ate some he said, yes. I asked him if he had had PT, he said he did know. Well, I could see that they had been in there and left their measuring thing. So I told him I was going to take it back to Todd. When I took it back, he said, did Val tell you what he did today. No, and as it turned out, Val bent his knee to 98 degrees AND used the platform walker - he took 4 steps. They did assist with moving his foot because his tennis shoes wouldnt slide. Hes not able to really pick up his right foot. Wish Id been there to see this and make a movie. I went back to his room and said I heard you took steps today .He said, yes. I said, thats great, Im so proud of you. His reply was, it was OK. Me, Are you kidding? He is just a mess. The ST said that since he has been eating much better, tomorrow at lunch Val will get a real meal to see how he does. Well see how it goes. He also got his toenails cut by a visiting Podiatrist. He got a new brace for his right arm from OT. It is supposed to hold is wrist in place better than his other resting brace. He is to wear Frankenstein during the day and use the new one at night. To top off the day, we had a visit from a friend from the Labor Department we hadnt seen in years. We enjoyed our visit. Please pray that Val will be able to eat his regular meal at lunch tomorrow. Thank you Lord for the many blessings you have given us and for those we havent seen yet.
