10 AGAINST 11, WE STILL LOST: WHAT KINGS TOLD ME IN 1994: 10 against 11 in favour of our boys, yet we couldnt beat Ghana. Something is wrong somewhere. In fact, Im begining to believe what a roommate of mine told me on campus way back in 1994 when Nigeria made her debut world cup appearance in USA. Kings was of English Department, while I was of Political Science. We shared the same room at the F-Hostel. Kings told me that the Eagles white jersey carries greater luck than the green one. When we played Morocco, a stronger side, we came from 3 goals down to win the match. Our players wore the White Jersey, but against Ghana we wore the green jersey. We could not score a single goal even with one man advantage on our own side. We lost almost all our penalties after extra time and lost the match. Wherever Kings is today, he will remember the day he told me so. It was the day Super Eagles played against Italy in USA 94 and lost courtesy of Roberto Baggios goal, following a rough tackle from Sunday Oliseh. Im not happy today because Im disappointed!
