It seems that Audrey Rose had a strange life unlike many other of her peers, but she lived to a ripe old age. She may have kept a dairy and lot of old letters in a trunk or a draw and they were used to write the book when she died. Easy reading, but lot of things were sad because she lived through some bad periods in life.
