10 months of Jubilee Celebrations In one months time, our Jubilee Celebrations would have come to an end. Heres a summary of the preparations, efforts and event that have made these 10 months of 2014 so meaningful. January 2014 The year started with elder Beng Chuan added to the team ministry. 1. In his first sermon as a full-time staff, elder Beng Chuan highlighted the upcoming Jubilee. 2. The song, these are the days of Elijah was chosen as our Jubliee theme song. With a sustained focused on the Jubilee, we want to thank all members who have worked hard in helping us to be aware, appreciate and celebrate Gods faithfulness over the past 50 years. It is something significant and precious that not only impacts us, but a legacy that we can pass on to future generations. February 2014 February was the month of the Chinese New Year, with the traditional open house of our elders. 1. A 50th anniversary notepad was released and distributed to all members. 2. Focus featured editorials on the Jubilee written by elder Winston and brother Henry Kong. March 2014 While the church camp registration was in full swing, the church was also preparing for the coming Jubilee. 1. Shawn Lee who created many of our camp t- shirt design, released a simple and elegant logo. 2. Many members responded to the Jubilee Sentiments thread on Facebooks ppcoc and friends. April 2014 April was the month of our annual retreat. It was special this time round, as we looked forward to our Jubilee. 1. The Focus started a Jubilee series of articles, focusing on our roots, reflecting on the future. 2. Brother Henry spoke on the significance of the Jubilee to both the English-speaking and Chinese-speaking congregations. May 2014 Even as the June church camp was on our radar, the Jubilee preparations were beginning to roll out. 1. Under the keen eyes of Rosalind Lee and team, we saw the first of a series of Back to Church videos, looking back at each of our 5 decades. 2. Overseas partners of PP started sending their Jubilee Sentiments for our publications. June 2014 June was the month of our annual church camp with many overseas visitors at PP. 1. Jubilee Sentiments which were first posted on Facebook, then Focus, are now on display in the lobby. 2. Sign-up for tables for Grand Dinner opened. July 2014 With the annual church camp behind us, all eyes were trained towards the Golden Jubilee preparations. 1. The renovation of the upper floor of the educational building was completed with room for more than double the capacity. 2. Registration for the Grand Dinner for individuals. August 2014 Elder Beng Chuan sent a letter to every member to start the the countdown for the Jubilee celebration. 1. Our popular website is totally revamped with a more modern, slick format. 2. Final call for members to confirm their tables for the Grand Dinner with 80 tables secured. 3. Brother Barnabas and sister Annie started spring cleaning our premises for the Jubilee. September 2014 With only one month to go, there was a daily buzz in putting together the final touches. 1. The work for the acoustics started and will be completed well before the Jubilee homecoming. 2. New hymnal covers with updates of our team ministers replaced the old slip-ons. 3. The new coloured 12-page Welcome to PP replaces the outdated Vision 2000 booklet. October Jubilee Highlights Coming next month, we look forward to these 4 highly anticipated highlights, as well as over 50 overseas guests who will start pouring in for the celebrations: 1. Golden Jubilee Grand Dinner on 17th October 2014, with over 800 confirmed attendance. 2. Jubilee Missions Seminar on 18th October 2014 conducted by Mark Hooper of MRN, USA. 3. Jubilee Missions Sunday with lessons by H.M. Motsinger on the morning of 19th October 2014. 4. 50th Homecoming celebrations in the evening with a buffet dinner together. - Henry Kong
