10 students of the BA in Digital Media at the Institute of Technology, Tallaght, have been involved in a Young Curators Project in conjunction with RUA RED. They had the opportunity to curate this years Art of the State touring exhibition using works selected from the permanent collections of the OPW, and the Department of Finance and Personnel in Northern Ireland. One of these students has informed me that one of the works they chose for the show is Seán Mulcahys Placescape VII. That piece was acquired by the OPW during Seáns solo show Placescapes which I curated and organised back in April 2012 at the gallery. The deeply missed art historian Rosemarie Mulcahy (Seáns wife) always thought this was a very special piece. Great that a new generation feels that way too. One of Seans magical placescapes will be included in our forthcoming show (Flâneries in Forests and Fields, opening on July 20th)
