100 DAYS PROJECT - DAY 90 By Chuck Hamm Read: 1 Timothy 3:14-16 Reflection: William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, recently visited Canada. It was the young couples first official tour since their storybook wedding in London. Everywhere they went thousands of admirers gathered, sometimes camping out overnight, just to be in the right spot to catch a glimpse of the royals. Their every move was on display; what they were wearing (especially Kate), how they carried themselves and the way they interacted was constantly watched and scrutinized. People were impressed, I think. Their fun-loving, friendly, down to earth manner endeared them to people. It goes without saying that Will & Kate were ever conscious that their visit was for more than just having a fun time exploring our beautiful country. They were representing the Queen! Their every move would either strengthen or undermine people’s respect and confidence in the monarchy; no small responsibility for the young couple. In this passage Paul wraps up his practical instructions about worship and the conduct of leaders in the church. In doing so he impresses upon Timothy and the believers in Ephesus the sobering fact that how they live and act will determine how people in the world around them will view God. The Church, the collective body of Christ, is the bearer of His truth. We, God’s people, have both the privilege and the responsibility of representing and validating that Jesus is who he says he is, so that people will know him and believe in him. Something to think about: 1. Read 1 Timothy 3:14-16 again. Focus on verse 16 and meditate for a few minutes on it. Let the wonder of who Jesus is and what he’s done sink in. 2. Who did you look up to as a kid? What kind of impression did they make on you? 3. Are there any kids or youth in your life now who might be looking to you as an example? What could you do to encourage them? Action Point: Watch this fun 2 minute video of Will and Kate’s visit to Yellowknife, in Canada’s North West Territories. youtu.be/hzSqqoe6vKQ As you get up in the morning all bleary eyed, brush your teeth, wash your face (and whatever else you do to it), eat breakfast, decide what to wear - oh ya, and don’t forget your time with God - imagine that like Will or Kate you’re getting ready to face a crowd of people who are waiting to catch a glimpse of you. Remember that you are representing the King of kings. It’s not about making a fashion statement or a good impression so people will admire you. It’s about allowing Jesus to shine through you and catch a glimpse of what he’s like. ************ About the writer: Chuck Hamm grew up as the youngest of 11 children near Vancouver, Canada.
