Funkanova - Wood Brass & Steel (1976) youtu.be/Bh1T7KOkVoY In a similar vein to Masters At Works (Mawtilus) 1996 titivation of the Bob James’s 1974 classic Nautilus, the Funkanova-inspired New Jersey Deep tune from 1996 has soul/funk disciples (and dilettantes of INCREDIBLE music) in personal conflict to which version is better. My initial recollection of this track was bouncing down motorways, on the way to a variety of nationwide club nights/gigs (and whatever tomfoolery paved the way) in the late 1990s, whilst rinsing this tune religiously. Later greater enjoyment was ordained after an appreciative pilgrimage to its source and continued hero-worshipped. Common sense dictates props be given to both pioneer and innovator, parent and child. Amen.
