1016 0630 -- A LOOK AT THE SOCIAL ENGINE I was just writing an essay, this very morning, on innovation when the following post appeared on my news feed. (I love fates helpful coincidences) 1. Innovation is defined as a verb: (1) The act or process of making changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products and (2) the act or process of introducing (something new, especially a product). 2. Basically, it is imitating something that already exists, but with improvements added. It is what we humans are compelled to do as we are always seeking to better things for our uses. (The essence of innovation is IMITATION.) 3. Our unique selves and experiences enable us to each see the world, at least slightly differently from others. We may see how one thing learned can be combined with others to produce something even better -- perhaps, never even noticed before. (We all bring something to lifes table) 4. Truly, we stand on the shoulders of all who came before -- as well as on those now living -- to advance the species -- and innovation is the way we build this edifice --for this helps power lifes great chain-reaction toward human betterment and greater well-being -- blazing new trails of possibility from which to choose -- and choice is generally a good thing. 5. Keep helping to grow societys superstructure to be its healthiest and most productive. Give us more and more good things from which to choose.
