11,000 Posts Vacant in Education Department in Kashmir About 11,000 posts are lying vacant in Education department in Jammu and Kashmir where Right to Education (RTE) Act has not been implemented as the Assembly was yet to endorse it. The vacant posts were referred to recruiting agencies, including Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) and Public Service Commission (PSC), Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said. He said the recruiting agencies have been directed to fill these vacancies. The Minister said 9,000 promotions in various cadres have been made. Mr Chand said the Right to Education Act passed by Parliament will be taken to the assembly for its implementation in the state so that nothing remains outside the ambit of education. He said School Education Board Act will also be amended in near future so that the necessary required changes are incorporated in it. He added that to provide adequate staff to far-flung located educational institutions, recruiting local un-employed youths on Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) pattern is being adopted. Mr Chand said expansion of education network in far-flung areas, besides development of infrastructure and extending quality education is the first priority of the present coalition Government. He said every possible step is being taken to take the benefits of the state and central run programmes to the needy. Terming education as panacea for social and economic development, the Minister urged the teaching community to work with dedication and zeal and teach the students with affection and care. Minister also revealed the new education policy is being framed by the Government for the purpose of which a committee comprising of experts has been constituted. This policy will cater to the needs of all the three regions of the State. A committee under the chairmanship of retired Justice Bilal Nazki has also been constituted for recommending the measures of regulating the Fee structure of private educational institutions.
