11/01 (Waukesha) - I birded the Glacial Drumlin Trail this afternoon and checked one of the ponds that spills into the Fox River, and noticed these 2 WHITE FRONTED GEESE mixed in with some of the other canada geese. The canada geese did not like their presence very much, at least when they got too close...a bit of push and shove was going on, and I saw them running away multiple times to find a new area, but for the most part they were ok with it. I found out they winter in Illinois, so they must be on their migration path south. I also went out to a friends farm in Oconomowoc, and saw my first ever Pileated Woodpecker fly over! This is the first time I have ever seen one in waukesha county. 2 Life Birds in one day! I would say november is starting out great!
