11-1-14 #MEwx SATURDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING STORM UPDATE- PLEASE READ Good evening, all! Alex here keeping you updated, I hope you had a good Saturday despite the dreary and windy weather. The US National Weather Service Gray ME has issued a Winter Storm WARNING for portions of Western Maine (Pink on map below) a Wind Advisory for coastal areas of Western Maine (Brown on map below) and a Coastal Flood Advisory (Green on map below) for coastal York County in Western Maine. Folks, this is a very what I like to call evolving forecast, which basically means that it changes as it goes along. What I want to talk about this evening specifically is the wind portion of the storm (you can see accumulation ideas in earlier posts, and another update will be posted on that later on this evening). So, on to the forecasting! TONIGHT expect winds to gust 40-50 MPH along the coast, with some power outages possible. This will be the first round of winds, with a second round coming Sunday morning. This will not correspond with the heaviest snow, so I expect it to not be the most disruptive round of winds. SUNDAY MORNING expect winds to pick up again after a bit of a lull, gusting 45-55 MPH for much of the coastal portion of the area. This, combined with potentially heavy snow, will likely cause scattered to numerous power outages. Again, I urge you to stay tuned for a potential accumulation update later, and stay safe tonight into Sunday! -Alex Watch/Warning Map Key: Winter Weather Advisory-Lighter Purple Winter Storm Warning- Pink Gale Warning (Marine)- Very Light Purple Storm Warning (Marine)-Dark Purple Wind Advisory-Tan
