The FM3 Buddha Machine is just an audio out jack, an on off switch, and an integrated speaker (and apparently a Buddha figurine in there, too) — turn it on, and it repetitively plays back one of nine loops. Seriously, thats it, straight up. But somehow the Buddha Machine has captured the imaginations of many with its utterly deceptive ambient simplicity, including Brian Eno, one of the Brians behind Roxy Music, ambient composer, and Bowies long time partner in crime (apparently he bought eight of em). Dude, why didnt you just get one more so you can play all nine ambient loops at the same time? Alan Bishop bought 24 Buddha Machines — now thats what were talking about. （Eno與Bryan Ferry在1971年於倫敦組成華麗搖滾(glam rock)名團Roxy Music，那時候Eno的裝扮可是相當的glamour！雖然Eno只待了兩年，出版兩張專輯Roxy Music與For Your Pleasure之後就離團單飛了，但是這兩張專輯都是擲地有聲的經典作品。 Brian EnoU2幾張重要的專輯，包括The Unforgettable Fire、The Joshua Tree、Achtung Baby、Zooropa、All That You Cant Leave Behind在內，都有Brian Eno參與，Brian Eno打造了U2。其實不只U2，Brian Eno同時也曾經擔任過David Bowie、Talking Heads、The James、與Coldplay專輯的製作人。） FM3在2005出品了標誌性作品[Buddha Machine-唱佛机佛機]而被世人所熟知。樂隊成立於2000年，成員 張薦 與 老趙Christiaan Virant。他們被認為是中國抽象實驗電子樂的先鋒人物，曾與竇唯合作,FM3以致力於構建作品內裡對呼吸的描寫和對聲場空間的控制著迷，他們的音樂也需要被靜心聆聽 ; 早期他們將中國古典民樂採樣製作成自己獨有的音色。他們擅長用長音，靜止音及大量的空間留白，演繹中國古典民樂的音色，極簡地構成了FM3獨有的、東方的冥想音景。 這次FM3他們帶著他們的Buddha Machine與他們的（聽說）專輯,首次巡迴來到台灣,除了帶給大家ㄧ場奇幻的Ambient的表演,順道也辦了ㄧ次專門講解了Buddha Machine的講座,希望讓台灣的樂迷多瞭解什麼是Buddha Machine FM3 大家不是在聽收音機，這是一隊集合中美音樂人、有「中國最傑出的實驗組合」的電子樂二人組。 早在80年代，美國人Christiaan Virant去到中國研究中國音樂及文化，於1999年，Christiaan與張薦組成這支樂隊，來一個中西文化衝擊，配合中國傳統樂器，FM3的音樂主要以Ambient/Meditation為主。 音樂的表達手法亦非常特別，不知大家有沒有見過，佛教徒聚會的地方，有時會有一個如收音機的佛唱機，不停地重複地唸誦「喃嘸阿彌陀佛」？ FM3就是用同一款名為Buddha Machine的小機器，每部都錄有他們自己的電子Sampling，只要將不同的Buddha Machine放在一起，就能奏出擁有不Layer的音樂。2006年，FM3更與竇唯合作推出大碟《後觀音》，實驗味是濃，但ambient的風格令聽眾進入心境平靜的狀態， 兩人的現場表演也很獨特，兩人不會上表演台，反而在台下相對以坐，枱上放著Buddha Machine，手執一杯香檳，隨他們的喜好心情編奏樂章，聽眾亦可以近距離欣賞，與表演者一同走入Ambient音樂的幻景。 對弈之舞 - FM3 LIVE IN TAIPEI 2014 DJ Code and Red紅 ＆Buddha Machine 講座
