11/4/2013 4:09:07 PM CHAPTER ONE JOBS LIFE; MAN DOES HAVE FREE WILL! Mans ability, with the free will that God has given us. Adam and Eve made a conscious choose to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. From that point on, man understands what good and evil is, however, as time passes most of man kind falls further away from what is good. As we see in Genesis chapter three, they were put out of the garden. Two Cherubims and flaming swords which turns every way, to keep man from getting to and eating from the tree of life. God says, man is like unto us now, because they understand good and evil. In this discussion, I will try to focus on the amazing life of Job, and his life long relationship with God. So, lets turn to the book of Job, where this story begins. Job is desscribed as a blameless and upright man who feared God and shunned evil. (1:1). We see in the early chapters of Job, that he and his family were receiving many blessing from God, for living a righteous life, fearing God, and obeying Gods rule. The wealth in this period of time was defined as, i.e. how many sheep, and cattle one has. From this information, as with living in Uz, outside of the promise Land, theologians believe the period of time was approximately during or before the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Now in chapter two, Satan comes before God with a challenge which involved Job. Actually, God presents His servant Job before Satan. Basically, God told Satan to due his will, however, do not touch my servant Job. Job 1:6-12 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV) 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. As we venture into the book of Job, we see where Satan taking all that Job has away from him, yet he sinned not from his lips, as well as, rebuking his wife for telling him to curse God and die. Job basically tells his wife that, if we thank and praise God for the goodness that He puts in our life, so we also need to do the same when turmoil in braises us. We need to keep the rules that God gave Satan, at the beginning of this Story in the front of our mind. I believe, this will continually help us to understand the plot of this story. Latter we find out who his three friends are. There names are, E-li-phaz, Teman-ite, and Bildad the Shuhite. We find these three friends After a time, they start to assail and dialogue with him from (Proverbs 3-31). Several times throughout the book of Job, they counsel Job to repent from his sins. Even with all that was taken from him, he bows before the Lord, saying, naked I came into this world and naked I shall leave, and the Lord giveth and taketh away, praise be to the Lord. In all this he sinned not. There is one more thought I believe, really shows how awesome jobs relation with God was. Job told his friends, as with God, that he wanted a audience before God, to show God that He was making a mistake on how the suffering he (Job), was going through. However, God put him in his place. God didnt ever tell Job why he was going through this suffering. Job at this time repents, not for any sins he may of have done, but for the growing irritation with God (job 40:3-5; 42:1-6) Gods response to all of this, He restores everything to Job, plus much more. Conclusion: 1. Satan made a deal with God to test Job. 2. Jobs wife wants him to curse God and die. 3. His friends keep telling Job to repent of his sins. 4. Job demands a face to face audience with God to set Him (God) straight. 5. God allows Job a audience, a personal audience with Him. 6. God put Job straight. 7. Job repents to God not for sin but, for the irritation he was having towards God. 8. All and more God restores to Job. 9. In all this Job sinned not also no sin from his lips. We as creations of God do have free will, in lifes situations, as well as spiritual. Job is just one of many in Gods Holy Word, and Lord willing, I will write about them.
