@11.59PM June 30, 2014 Lost but Found-3 Stripped away from all its pretensions, our lives are really quite simple – we are gifted certain talents by our birth, tutored and honed as best as life’s circumstances permit, then we just strive till we can do no more. Yet, for all of us, closing our eyes each night to wake in the morning has nothing to do however with our striving: it happens because someone, some being has permitted it to be so. Simple. The situation with #ChibokGirls in a similar way asks questions of our strivings which we cannot answer and it has become difficult to close our eyes at night…. …on a painfully ordinary day, one sister was sent to the nearby ramshackle store to bring more ripening oranges to be peeled in patterns attractive enough to stop passers-by; the other was left seated on a stool beneath a drooping umbrella stand frantically carving the yellow-green backs in a nearly empty enamel basin for the office worker whose handset had cracked open on the floor only half hour ago as he was rushing out of the bank for the office, lunch break long past when the car screeched to a halt inches away from the wildly gesticulating guard...Boooooom. Many have described #BringBackOurGirls as futile, empty, cynical, even dumb, stuntsmanship possibly put on by political spin doctors to embarrass the Federal Government …and most do so as they scurry about Nigeria’s corporate and public corridors of power striving…Others would have the command of the military, coaching from the rear or the cockpits of their SUVs as though Sambisa was a World Cup venue in faraway Brazil. They will not be fooled by the media, humbled into the hot sun of protest marches, hauled out before a nervous Police or foolishly vocal and visible in public domains. They are not fools. Father, we confess that we are fools for Christs sake, but they are wise in Christ; we are weak, but they are strong; they are honourable, but we are despised. This is as it should be - were we wise, strong and honourable we would not seek Your face and counsel in supplication. We confess that we are lost so that we can be found in You alone; we have only You and trust only You to #BringBackOurGirls and #RestoreOurLand.
