11 REASONS WHY MOST NIGERIANS WILL NOT VOTE BUHARI FOR PRESIDENT IN 2015. Buhari is perpetually unelectable - El rufai. 1. OLD AGE: We need a young, energetic, visionary, vibrant and Y2K compliant leader just like in most parts of the developed world. At 77, his vision, if any, will either be impaired or slow. 2. HE WILL BE AN ETHNIC PRESIDENT: Buhari is an ethnic champion. His popularity does not go beyond certain parts of the north. He does not enjoy acceptability across the geopolitical boundaries of Nigeria. 3. HE WILL NOT UNITE NIGERIA: We need a leader that will promote national unity and pluralism rather than division and deepening of religious/regional rivalries. His character, utterances and beliefs are reactionary, confrontational and far from the attributes of a nationalist and a statesman that is needed to unite Nigeria at this time of great challenges. 4. A RELIGIOUS BIGOT: Most Nigerians see Buhari as a religious radical, fundamentalist and fanatic. He once urged Muslims not to vote a Christian president. Advocate of Moslem-Moslem, North-North ticket just as in his military rule with Tunde Idiagbon. 5. SELLECTIVE JUSTICE: Most Nigerians have not forgotten the selective punishment handed to politicians arrested after his 1983 Coup. For instance, VP Ekwueme was locked up in Kirikiri Maximum Prison while the head of the government President Shagari was kept under house arrest. 6. BAD DEMOCRATIC ANTICIDENT: A Coup plotter. He overthrew a democratic government in 1983. 7. QUESTIONABLE ANTI-CORRUPTION POSTURE: N2.8Billion missing during his tenure as Petroleum Minister in 1976. Also is the case of the 53 Suite Cases brought into the country during his military regime’s change of currency despite border closure. 8. BAD HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD: Buhari killed 3 Nigerian youths with a retroactive military decree despite pleas from both local and international human rights organizations and individuals. He ran a draconian government that could not even obey its own laws and promulgated decree to cage the media. The case of Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor. 9. ANTI NATIONALIST COMMENTS: He is renowned for making inflammatory and inciting statements such as – “blood will flow”, “there will be war if I lose”, “the country will be made ungovernable”, dog and baboon will be soaked in blood etc. His tacit support for Boko Haram until recently. 10. NOT GENDER FRIENDLY: Women in politics will suffer under a Buhari government. He is against women participation in government and the Affirmative Action. 11.
