#11 WashU gave me a small amount of need-based aid, even though it is clear that I need a whole lot more. My parents were barely able to acquire a loan that was to pay the rest of my tuition in full. Im a freshman, and my parents took out a $40,000 loan to pay for my tuition this year. I feel like a burden on my parents for choosing to come to WashU, and it will take me years to pay off the remaining debt if I dont end up switching schools. Even with a work-study job, I only make minimum wage and use those expenses to buy groceries when I can. I just wish that WashU was more generous and understanding with financial aid because I feel like Im forcing my parents to work harder and longer in order to afford an education for me.
