11 months and 3 weeks ago, Luaka Bop released this wierd compilation of a Nigerian singer Id never heard of. It sounded amusing, so I gave it a listen. The album was called Who is William Onyabear? I havent stopped listening since. Ive been sharing his tracks for much of the year, but not a single person has ever responded or liked any of them on my page. Ive truly never heard anything like it - it brings a lot of happiness into my day every time its playing, and leaves me with the sense Ive been listening to something from an alternative timeline, where James Brown might have been the singer for Kraftwerk, and where Africa really was, as Fela said, center of the world. I wish you all would have a listen!
