11월 16일 “내 심령에 이르기를 여호와는 나의 기업이시니.” [예레미야 애가 3:24] 이것은 “여호와가 부분적으로 나의 기업이라”는 뜻도 아니요 “여호와가 내 기업 안에 있다”는 뜻도 아닙니다. 하나님 자신이 내 영혼의 기업의 총체가 되신다는 뜻입니다. 우리가 소유하거나 소원하는 모든 것들이 그 안에 놓여 있습니다. 여호와는 나의 기업이십니다. 그의 은혜나 그의 사랑이나 그의 언약만 내 것이 아니라 여호와 자신이 나의 기업이십니다. 그는 우리를 그의 기업으로 택하셨고 우리는 그를 우리의 기업으로 택했습니다. 물론 여호와께서 우리를 위해 우리의 기업을 먼저 택해 주셨음에 틀림없다는 것, 그렇지 않았으면 우리가 자신을 위해 우리의 기업을 절대 택하지 않았을 거라는 것은 사실입니다. 그러나 만일 우리가 하나님의 선택적인 사랑의 뜻에 따라 정말 부르심받은 존재들이라면 우리는 다음과 같이 노래할 수 있습니다. “하나님을 위해 다시 하나님의 사랑을 받은 나 하나님에 대한 강렬한 사랑으로 불타네. 세상이 시작되기도 전에 나를 택해 주신 하나님, 나도 그 답례로 하나님을 택한다네.” 여호와는 우리의 모든 것을 채워 주시고도 남을 만큼 충족한, 정말 아무 부족함이 없는 기업이십니다. 하나님은 스스로 족한 분이십니다. 만일 하나님이 스스로 족한 분이라면 우리를 위해서도 아무 부족함이 없는 분임에 틀림없습니다. 인간의 소욕을 다 만족시켜 준다는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 탐욕스러운 인간은 자신이 원하던 것이 충족되었다고 생각하는 순간 또다시 무언가 부족해서 “이걸 주세요, 저걸 주세요”라고 울부짖습니다. 그러나 우리가 소원할 수 있는 모든 것은 우리의 기업되신 하나님 안에서 발견할 수 있습니다. 그래서 “하늘에서는 주 외에 누가 내게 있으리요 땅에서는 주밖에 나의 사모할 자 없나이다”(시 73:25)라고 말하게 되어 있습니다. 우리로서는 마땅히 우리에게 그의 기쁨의 강물을 마시게 해주는 “여호와를 기뻐해야” 합니다. 우리의 믿음은 독수리처럼 날개를 펴고 하나님의 사랑이라는 천국으로 날아가 그곳에 거합니다. “내게 줄로 재어 준 구역은 아름다운 곳에 있음이여 나의 기업이 실로 아름답도다”(시 16:6). 주 안에서 항상 기뻐합시다. 우리가 얼마나 복되고 행복한 백성인지를 이 세상에 보여 줍시다. 이렇게 해서 그들도 “하나님이 너희와 함께 하심을 들었나니 우리가 너희와 함께 가려 하노라”(슥 8:23)고 소리칠 수 있게 만듭시다. 찰스 스펄전 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Lord is my portion, says my soul. He has chosen us for His portion—and we have chosen Him for ours. It is true that the Lord must first choose our inheritance for us, or else we would never choose it for ourselves; but if we are really called according to the purpose of electing love—we can sing, Loved of my God for Him again With love intense I burn; Chosen of Him before time began, I choose Him in return! The Lord is our all-sufficient portion. God fills Himself; and if God is all-sufficient in Himself, He must be all-sufficient for us. It is not easy to satisfy mans desires. When he dreams that he is satisfied, in a short while, he wakes to the perception that there is somewhat yet beyond, and straightway the horse-leech in his heart cries, Give, give! But all that we can wish for—is to be found in our divine portion, so that we ask, Whom have I in heaven but You? There is none upon earth that I desire beside You! Well may we delight ourselves in the Lord who makes us to drink of the river of His pleasures. Our faith stretches her wings and mounts like an eagle into the heaven of divine love as to her proper dwelling-place. The lines have fallen to us in pleasant places; yes, we have a goodly heritage. Let us rejoice in the Lord always; let us show to the world that we are a happy and a blessed people, and thus induce them to exclaim, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you! by Charles H.
