Hogans Jr. Subject & Text: Obedience and Sacrifice {1Samuel 15:22-23, Joshua 1:8} In order for the word of God to manifest in your life, you must be obedient to the will and word of God. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Sacrifice was made because of sin. Sacrifice is an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God. God only takes pleasure in obedience. A lot of people try to use the flesh to cover themselves. Jesus came and died on the cross so, that provided the ultimate sacrifice. There would be no need for sacrifices if man obeyed God. We obey God because we love him, not because we want something or need something; the bible says “If you love me, keep my commandments.” If you really love God, then you do what he tells you to do, he tells us to love our neighbor but we can’t even do that simple command. God places in his word that we are not supposed to slander our brother. “Examine yourself” it says in the bible. God is more glorified by obedience than sacrifice. When you come to church, you don’t come because you want to see someone, you come because God has commanded it. God said that if you do my will, then you love me. Obedience is following instructions, submitting to authority, and response of love. To love God is to obey God. Sin is disobedience or doing your own will instead of God’s will. Whose will are you going to do? Amen.
