12 fun NEW YEARS SUPERSTITIONS!! 1. Eat black-eyed peas and greens, eat 12 grapes. Doing this brings good luck and financial prosperity. The peas represent good luck and the greens represent money. Each grape represents 1 month. I also read to eat cornbread. 2. Nothing goes out of the house, or you will be losing things during the upcoming year. Don’t take out the trash or food or anything. IF your trash needs emptying, do it BEFORE midnight OR on January 2nd. If you have food or anything to take somewhere on New Years Day, have it outside or at their house already. 3. KISS AT MIDNIGHT. Kiss someone close to you at midnight, this will ensure affection for the next 12 months. If you happen to be alone at midnight, kissing the dog or cat will work. 4. DONT CRY on New Years day, this could bring unhappiness for the next year. So don’t cry even if your favorite team loses in a bowl game. (Heres hoping that doesnt happen - GO NOLES!!!). Be upbeat and happy as well. 5. DONT DO LAUNDRY. The dirty clothes can wait until January 2nd. Some also say to not wash the dishes on New Years Day - washing items is synonymous with washing a loved one out of your life - so leave clothes and dishes til the 2nd! 6. No bare cupboards on New Years Day or it could be that way for the whole year! FILL UP THE CUPBOARDS before New Years Day. 7. DONT LEND MONEY or precious items and don’t pay back loans either or else youll be paying out money the whole year. FILL all of your wallets with money since that ensures prosperity for the New Year. 8. OPEN THE DOORS AT MIDNIGHT. This is to let out all the bad from the previous year and usher in the good on New Years day. 9. MAKE SOME NOIIIIIIISSSSSEEEEE!!! Noisemakers are for scaring away the evil spirits from entering your life in the next year! Get loud when the clock winds down to midnight! 10. DONT BREAK ANYTHING! 11. DO SOMETHING WORK related on New Years Day, only a small amount of work though. Too much work related stuff is not good. Its supposed to be good for business matters during the year! 12.
