12 years ago, I was walking to work at the BMG Building in Times Square when the first plane hit. Thinking about all my fellow BMG-ers today, especially Hugh Surratt, who sheltered several commuters like me in his downtown apartment until we could leave the city. We stood on the roof of his building, watching a parade of ambulances stream down the West Side Highway toward the collapsed towers but only a very few making the return trip back uptown. I hope we never have to see a day like that again.
