12 years ago today our lives changed forever! Our beautiful lil 6 year old Michaila Smith was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes! No its not cancer! However our lives have never been the same! Over the next 12 years we almost lost our baby several times! There has been good days and bad at least 150 hospital stays loads of ER visits and lots of missed school days! There is not a night that goes by that I am afraid that my baby may not wake up the following morning! I have been told God gave her to us for a reason! This is a horrible disease that does not get the proper media attention! The awareness is almost non existent and people have no clue what we have been through or will continue to go through! So for 12 years we have had a diabetes- day on Oct. 13 every year! With a gift from her daddy and I !!!
