12 yrs ago I dropped my 6mth old baby at day care, just 2 hours after dropping him off I was wishing he was in my arms. Thankfully I still have the chance to hug my son; many do not. In loving memory of those that died on September 11th 2001, and in memory of 2 WVARNG Soldiers SSG Vance & SGT Talbert and all those who lost their lives in the war; I wrote the following: As you wake this morning Give your love to your family As you drive to work or school Try not to be so rude and cruel Through your work or school day Remember to pray As you enjoy watching your child play Treasure that moment in the most highest of ways When you sit to enjoy your evening meals Look around at your family and absorb that great feeling When you have the chance to tuck that sweet child in bed Hug them tight and lay a precious kiss upon their head Say I love you every chance you have to your spouse and child The next time you have the chance, well it may be a long while As you wake each day and enjoy all your liberties Think of your family, think of your loved ones, think of me I am one of thousands that didn’t have that chance The chance for that last “I love you”, to dance my last dance The chance to hug my spouse or my child The last thought I had was “Dear Lord, keep my family safe and comfort them” See my family was my treasure, my gem For on this day, in 2001 I couldn’t say goodbye to anyone Please take the time To say goodbye To say I love you And always stand true Remember nine eleven, the innocent lives lost Remember what our liberty and freedom costs Stand beside those that lived through that day Listen to them and what they have to say Bow your head in silence for a few moments Don’t let the thousands go unnoticed So as you wake this morning Give your love to your family But please oh please Say “I love you” twice for me!
