1216 0900 -- JUST HOW DEEP AND BROAD IS THE HUMAN KNOWLEDGE BASE? How deeply can we probe with our computers? What are we missing? In what ways might this be important? . I realized that the world-wide web does not access the ENTIRE, vast Human Knowledge Base (HKB) -- an impossibility, as far as I can determine -- nor do the search engines access that ENTIRE smaller world-wide web portion of the HKB. But, until just now, it never dawned on me to consider the matter much further. . It appears that weve been scratching the surface, with more, deep below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . Here is the start of the Wikipedia article which has just intrigued me -- the entire article is linked, below: . DEEP WEB (also called the Deepnet,[1] Invisible Web,[2] or Hidden Web[3]) is that portion of World Wide Web content that is not indexed by standard search engines. . (This is in contrast with the portion that is indexed by standard search engines, known as the SURFACE WEB. However, an exception is that a newly developed web page may momentarily reside in the deep Web until found by standard search engines.) . It should not be confused with the DARK INTERNET, the computers that can no longer be reached via the Internet, or with a Darknet distributed filesharing network, which could be classified as a smaller part of the Deep Web. . Some prosecutors and government agencies think that the Deep Web is a haven for serious criminality.[4] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Web
