13 years ago I was doing my first photo shoot of my new business with Chelese Hawkins. My dad called and told me what had happened, but it was almost too unbelievable. We worked until noon not really knowing what was going on. Then went to CB and Potts and watched the footage. No one was being served, everyone staff and patrons just watching the big screens. We all have our own stories of that day etched in our memories. That day, we werent Democrats or Republicans. We were Americans. And scared, angry, and facing a new world. If there is one thing that day did, it was to briefly unite us. Even in the face of evil; the amazing examples of love, courage, and sacrifice of ones selves to try and save others. In the face of what the worst of humanity has to offer, it brought out the best of who we are. As this day fades and we go back to our lives, opinions and the daily grind.....it can remind us to be a little nicer to each other, to care a little more, and a lot of the things we think are so important and fight about with each other, really are petty and are not. It never is cliché to thank those who make our lives safer, ensure our freedom, and sacrifice for all of us. Thank you.
