13 years ago today I remember I was was in bed asleep my mom called and woke me up to tell me what was going on. I turned on the TV to find the exact same thing on every channel. Without listening to details my first thought was about the first responders. Being in the fire service myself I know our mind set. No mater the danger we still need to do something. We feel it is our duty or our calling to serve those in need no matter the sacrifice me my endure. This day 13 years ago 343 fire service brothers made the ultimate sacrifice their life. They done this serving people the had probably never met befor people they never knew. We all know when the pager goes off we never know what we will encounter we know its always possibly our last call. But we are still here we look past what we know just as those men did that day. Yes we are in walnut cove or stokes county but things just like this could happen here. I Challenge everyone reading this the next time you see a firefighter, police officer, or EMS personnel just simply thank them for their service. Its not every day they hear thank you. Remember we are here to serve you no matter the sacrifice we may pay. Just as those guys 13 years ago where there to serve their community. Also please dont forget our military personnel that have been at war since this terrorist attack took place.
