13 years ago today monsters came and inflicted death, chaos, and what would now be called the worst lost of first responders in U.S. history. Many of us can recall down to the nano second where we were and what we were doing when the towers were hit. And many of us knew how we felt as we were helpless to do something ...Anything to go and save them......Gotta admit the #Watchman shed many tears that day. I mean we are the good guys, we run towards danger when everybody runs away. We heal the wounded and comfort those who are distress and if need be slay wolves. I say this because as a man of faith as many of us here are we do and will be tested on our faith. I recall Terrorism class I attended and this female Sgt. was asking those of us in class how many officers did we have on duty at any given time. Some answered one or two and she asked how many officers generally are in the departments we serve. When my turn came I told her five officers to cover 13 square miles including reserves. She was amazed at how departments here in this state with so few officers with sometimes vast areas can still serve their communities. I told her because we Called to do it. Yes despite the numbers well go into burning buildings, cars or whatever to save someone...Even at our own risk. many people dont understand how a firefighter can go into a burning building and risk their lives to save someone. No one can understand how a police officer can run into a school sometimes alone and go look for someone who is trying or in the process of killing kids. no one can understand why people on a plane bound to destroy innocent lives decided to beat the hell out of the hi-jackers even though they knew they were not going to make it. No, no one but those of us who are called to serve, protect, comfort and heal. At the end of the class the SGT. bless me with three things that Ill always cherish: She gave me a hug! She gave me her partners lapel pin (He gave a wounded victim to her and he went into the twin towers just 10 minutes before it collapsed..........He didnt make it out) And ,,,,The first 9/11 patch that they had representing the event. And a Fire chaplains pin......For the very first chaplain killed in the line of duty Mychal Judge......Killed while administering last rites to the victims who jumped out of the building. So when I and other admins here on this page tell you guys to seek training....Seek it! And when we tell you to hug and tell those close to you you love them....Do it! We were sucker punched 13 years ago and given current conditions if were not careful we will repeat it. be vigilant, be strong, be compassionate for others . Prepare: Protect: Serve! With tears still in my eyes... From the Watchtower! #Watchman
