13th July 2013 Be reliable Texts: John 2:5 Memory Verse: ‘His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it’ [John 2:5] Devotional thought: If God trust you hope you will not . . .? Devotion Message Hello dearly beloved. We give glory to the God of all other gods for the gift of wisdom and knowledge. How excellent is your name in all the earth oh Lord! Trying to imagine the mother of Jesus saying about His Son that whatever order He gave the servants should obey, without considering the consequence if it does not work out. That’s faith man. There are two things that would make Jesus’ mother to make such statement concerning Jesus or to even bring them to Him in the first place, despite the fact that He had not performed any miracle before. What could have make this woman take such risk for at least they say seeing is believing (Though in faith it is the other way round i.e. believing is seeing). The first is the faith in the ability of God for the bible said she kept what the Angel told her about the boy while she was yet to conceive that the boy shall be called the Son of the living God, the God that is able to make a virgin conceive without having met a man and she was patiently waiting until she acted and the second thing that would give her such boldness is being sure that Jesus could be relied on anytime any day and anywhere. I suppose that from their dealings in the house, Jesus had always been a man of His word, folly would never flow from His mouth and never would He cheat and He does not have eye for another’s money. You see some people really carry anointing but because they are not reliable nobody can entrust things with them. Some of us if we say to our friends to meet us somewhere then they would have to be waiting for us. Many of us have even turned our phone to opportunities for lies. Are you the type that if he does not know a thing he would not pretend to knows? Have you heard of business lies before? Have you heard about lies to save relationship before? In fact there is a lie of the devil going on that if you have not lied to your spouse before then you don’t really love him. Let me ask you, it takes how many people to love? I know it is two, and if one hurts the other, and the other was sincere enough to reveal their mistakes, if there is love indeed then the multitude of sin is covered, so says the Word of love Himself. You will not open up because you are not ready to change your ways. You see, anyone that have seen the love of God would definitely live Him and the more you strive to be like Him and grow in Him, the more you become reliable. I know there might be times you would be faced with the apparent consequence of telling the truth but indeed is the lies of the devil, in such situation it takes a believing heart and the grace of God to say the truth. It is funny that it might even be the truth that would even save the situation, and if it does not there is a better one waiting but needs that situation to thrive. Your Lord, your Father is reliable and you cannot decide to be a bastard. One of the attribute of God is faithfulness and also one of the fruits of the Spirit is faithfulness (Galatians 5:22). Do you know the number of promises He made to several of men including you and He said not even a jolt of it would not drop unfulfilled, but how many promises have you ever made and you broke? Of recent there was a serious decision I had to make and my Pastor had told me to do something and because I was afraid I had to turn to the Holy Spirit to ask whether I should do it and He answered with the memory verse meaning the Spirit trusts Him with His message.
