15 Nov 2013 - A 994 mb low moving out of the Alaska panhandle will move rapidly southeast through the interior of BC into northwest Washington State. The associated frontal system will move down the BC coast today delivering rain to all areas as the warm sector of the frontal system crosses the coast. Behind the trailing cold front clearing will bring sun to most coastal areas on Saturday although the southern tip of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands will continue with mixed conditions and possible showers due to a stationary trough that will form over Vancouver Island and Georgia Strait. Clearing conditions will bring lower temperatures to around seasonal normals. Winds following the cold front will rise to NW Gale Force in all regions starting in the north this morning and spreading fully south by tonight. NW Vancouver Island may see winds briefly reach sustained Storm Force around the northern headlands. - Dixon Entrance winds NW Gale Force to 40 knots (74 kmh) diminishing to strong NW this evening. Seas to 6 meters. - West coast Haida Gwaii winds rising to NW Gale Force to 45 knots (83 kmh) this morning diminishing to strong NW this evening. Seas to 6 meters. - Hecate Strait winds rising to NW Gale Force to 45 knots (83 kmh) late this morning diminishing to NW Gale Force to 35 knots (65 kmh) this evening and then steadily diminishing overnight. Seas to 5 meters. - Queen Charlotte Sound winds steadily increasing to NW Gale Force to 45 knots (83 kmh) this afternoon abating slightly tonight and then diminishing Saturday morning. Seas to 6 meters. - Northwest Vancouver Island winds rising to NW Gale Force to 40 knots this afternoon. Winds will slowly ease to strong NW overnight. Near coastal winds in some headland areas may achieve Storm Force. Seas to 6 meters. - Southwest Vancouver Island winds rising to SW Gale Force to 35 knots (65 kmh) this morning. Winds will rapidly shift and rise to NW Gale Force to 45 knots (83 kmh) this evening. Winds will ease to NW Gale Force to 35 knots (65 kmh) overnight and diminish to strong on Saturday. Seas greater than 6 meters. - Queen Charlotte Strait, Johnstone Strait winds shifting and rising to NW Gale Force to 40 knots (74 kmh) this afternoon diminishing overnight. Seas to 5 meters at west entrance QC Strait. - Georgia Strait moderate SE winds shifting and rising to NW Gale Force to 40 knots (74 kmh) this evening. Diminishing overnight. Seas greater than 2 meters south of Tsawaassen. - Juan de Fuca Strait winds rising to westerly Gale Force to 40 knots (74 kmh) this afternoon diminishing to strong overnight and to moderate at the west entrance. Seas to 3 meters in JDF centre and the San Juan capture area.
