15 Year Old Male Stable after being Shot in GBV Worcester, MA (July 17, 2014) - On Thursday July 17, 2014 at approximately 3:42 AM, Worcester Police responded to a Freedom Way apartment for a report of a male that was shot. Upon the officers arrival they observed a 15-year-old sitting on the stairs leading to the apartment. The male was suffering from several gunshot wounds but was conscious and alert. According to the victim, he was walking towards his home when he was approached by several males. An argument between the victim and the males escalated into shots being fired. The victim, realizing he was shot, ran from the group. The victim did not provide a description of the suspects. Worcester EMS arrived at the scene and transported the male to a nearby hospital. The victim is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Police arrived at the hospital to interview the victim but he refused to cooperate with the investigation. Investigators are currently working on the identities of the suspect’s as well as the motive and circumstances that led up to the shooting. The victim is a known gang member in the city. Investigators are looking into one possibility that this incident may be a gang related issue.
