15th October (Tuesday) One of the horses I treated today Bud, he has a skin condition that has got progresivley worse year on year. His once beautiful shiny black coat is now dull and he has lots of areas where the hair is not growing back this autum. In the summer his ears (in particular) get so inflamed they bleed. It seems to be midges that are causing this, Lauren his owner has tried every potion and lotion under the sun spending a fortune in the process. Last year her vet suggested an injection given to cattle for ring worm. This failed too! Poor Bud gets so upset in the summer from the itching that Lauren has rigged up fans in the roof of his box to cool his sore ears. His tail looks like a gerbils tail as he has rubbed off most of the top of it. This year the rash has spread to his belly, inner thighs, and chest. Normaly as the weather cools down his coat begins to get better but it has not happened this year. He is now rather subdued from dealing with this condition. He is such an exuberant horse during his treatment normally, but he has lost his sparkle, and today I got very little of the enthusiasm I normally get from him during his massage. I have posted up these images to see if any of you readers are aware of this condition and can offer any help. Pennie X
