18 HOURS DELIVERING SIGNS THIS WEEKEND Wrapped up the weekend after spending (total) about 18 hours handing out signs and visiting and sharing stories with many many supporters. Probably my favorite part of this process -- getting out to meet our supporters, to see their enthusiasm, share some family stories, and talk about the future of our department. For me, its so important to connect with our supporters and hear about their families and their concerns -- one of our main goals is to provide a safe community for them to raise their kids in. I stopped and talked to one supporter and his young son and daughter. He explained his son has two matchbox police cars in his room -- one for each of the night deputies that rotate in that city. His son, who is pre-school age, knows both deputies names, and you can see gets excited when he talks about them. He also has a truck for the fire chief in town -- mentioning him by name too. Love talking to kids at this young age because their enthusiasm and excitement is so genuine and honest. They wouldnt speak highly of our guys had they not had such positive contact with them! To this young man....these two deputies are his heroes!!! Fire Department too!!!! Thats the way it should be. If we build that kind of rapport with these kids at this young age....just think what kind of good we can do for this community over time. You combine this early contact - with the positive contact theyll have throughout school with great SROs like Deputy Bob Morris....we can make a huge impact. That just goes to show the quality of Deputies we have at our office -- Makes me so proud to be a part of this great group of dedicated men and women!!! They are simply in need of more positive direction and leadership! Im very excited about having the opportunity to lead them in 2015 with your support!!!! Busy week this week with the fair!!!
