An 18-year old high school student, Cheryl Dacillo, of Brgy. Langka, Meycauayan was allegedly shot in the head by a man she only met on Facebook. The suspect, identified by the police as Cedrick Martin, 19 years old and resident of Brgy. Caloong 1, Valenzuela City immediately fled the crime scene after the incident and is now being hunted by authorities. According to a witness, a friend of Cheryl Dacillo, who was in the same room with the suspect and the victim when the shooting happened at 4:00 pm, the two were just talking while sitting on the bed when she heard the gunshot. The victim’s mother, Pretzel Dacillo told investigators that her daughter asked her permission to go out and attend a school program. She never thought that Cheryl lied and was actually planning to meet Martin, according to the mother. The victim just turned 18 a week ago. Also according to the police, the gun used in the shooting was an improvised .22 caliber handgun resembling a sub-machine gun. The witness further testified that while sitting on the bed, Cedrick reached for the gun which was being kept on top of a drawer beside them. A few minutes later, the witness heard the shot. Police has yet to establish who is the owner of the gun found in the crime scene. Investigations are on-going and police are calling for the suspect, Cedrick Martin, to surrender and shed light on what actually happened. Meanwhile, authorities once again cautioned everyone, especially teenagers to be very careful and not to easily fall prey to people they meet online to avoid meeting the same fate.
