18 months ago a family trusted their builder to bring in trained tradesmen to work on their building modifications. This week I have had to put right a number of metal light fittings which had not been earthed, and I wired up the immersion heater which had never worked. Needless to say, there was no documentation on the installation work. How can builders and other people be called to account when they sub-contract to cowboys - especially for electrical work where it is not immediately obvious that the work is faulty. I pay a lot of money each year for my Part P registration as do many other professional sparkies who work on domestic properties but these cowboys and their mates are still able to get away with it. Grump over!
