1860 The Onslow Borough was formed between Crofton, Khandallah, Kawharawara and Wadestown. 1863 WB Rhodes was a founding member of the New Zealand Steam Ship Company 1866 WB Rhodes was a merchant and commissioner of wool, a general commission agent and chair of the Wharf Committee in the Provincial Council 1869 W B Rhodes built the Grange 1878 W B Rhodes retired from politics. Buried in Sydney St Cemetery. 1879 Work started on the 1 September to build a railway to Manawatu. Men walked out of the City to Wadestown to work on the Crofton Section.
