18TH OCTOBER,2013. EVENING DEVOTION. GRACE DESTROYERS. TONIGHTS SCRIPTURE.As Gods co- workers we urge you not to receive Gods grace in vain. (2Corinthians 6:1 NIV) Amazing grace can be resisted and it can also be received in vain. You may be wondering how that can happen. There are things that limit and hinder the grace of God in the life of a believer. If you do not know how to access and retain amazing grace, you might end up disgraced. God forbid! Apostle Paul says one must not receive amazing grace in vain. That means you can have amazing grace and be disgraced. There are things that can destroy the potency of grace. I call them sins against the spirit of amazing grace. WHAT SHALL we say [to all this]? Are we to remain in sin in order that Gods grace (favor and mercy) may multiply and overflow?(Roma ns 6:1 AMP). Grace is not an excuse for continuous sin. Instead it should be a reason to avoid whatever can destroy your access to amazing grace. Hebrews 12:15 says one of the things that limits Gods grace in our life is bitterness. When you get resentful and allow bitterness build up in your life towards another person it hinders the grace of God in your life. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Bitterness hinders the grace of God in your life. God warns against it over and over saying, Dont become resentful! In the amplified version the Bible explain it better.Exercis e foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure Gods grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it– (Hebrews 12:15 AMP). Many believers do not know why grace has eluded them in spite of their seemingly healthy prayer lives. You can do all that is needed to be done in life but if you hold on to bitterness the grace upon you will be contaminated. The devil knows how to make the grace of God of no effect by keeping people you cannot stand around you and if you keep getting irritated and bitter the amazing grace upon your life will be of no effect. People will constantly offend you but you must forgive easily and make up with them. Become a man or woman of grace to all those around you at all times. Be a man of peace no matter the situation you find yourself. Work at getting along with each other and with God.Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God.(Hebrews 12:14 MSG) Endeavour to get along with everyone around you.
