19 sep 2013- This maybe long, time consuming or whatever, but what me and my brother experienced somehow I feel needs to be shared to all, take your time to read, and question yourself, how far is your faith in the religion of humanity, so on the 19th September me and my brother Steve were at one of our usual hang out early breeze hours, and as we were chilling at a shop we saw this guy running and being chased by a bunch others, us, being Malaysian with “tidak-apa” (idontcare) attitude ignored the scene thinking that maybe that guy is a thieve or something, later than 5 minutes later as we left the shop, we were terrified with the scene, a lady lying in the mid of the pavement covered with blood and crying in pain. We both thought that lets actually help her out as not many seem to be voluntary to help and are rather just standing and watching, so first thing we did was called for the ambulance, as I call for the ambulance apparently somebody has already call for an ambulance 5/10 min ago, so I said ok but any way can you hurry up cause the lady seem to be losing a whole lot of blood and we might lose her, she told me to hold on and connected me to the hospital that the ambulance was to coming from, I was then connected to a very rude lady who kept on saying that yes the ambulance is on its way and I went on arguing that look its almost 20 min and I doubt there would be any traffic and that time of the day and the lady told me to stay calm and I said ok I have the rights to know who is the ambulance driver than as it is I strongly believe it’s stupid and impossible for the ambulance to take more than 30min, and she shouted at me and just hung up. Ignored it and went back to trying to save the lady for the time while waiting for the damn ambulance, luckily than there were few American guys who coincidentally one of them was a doctor, and he took in-charge of the situation as he knows what’s right to do. On the other hand there was a police car that stopped by, myself hoping that this cops can help us in getting an ambulance faster, so I approached the 2 cops, with all those badge’s and the ‘cool-police-swag’ this 2 uncle got out of the car, and the first thing they did was ask for the ladies IC, like seriously, oh wait, u got to be a Malaysian to be saved or something? Back to the lady, she was bleeding terrible on her head and apparently she had a glass bottle hit on her head and she was stabbed with it, as the dude was an American and couldn’t speak Bahasa I had to be there translating for him, and then I was told that she is losing a whole lot of blood and it needs to stop, I was told to get towels, ok so right in-front of the whole scene was 2 budget hotel, so me and my brother went to the first hotel to ask if anyhow they could give a towel as it would save a life, before we could even reach the hotel, the security pak cik who was a local man quickly closed the gate and did not allow us to go in, Steve almost meet in an argument with the guy as he was so reluctant to even allow us to meet the manager. With so much of anger and yet slight hope we went to the next hotel beside it where an Iranian guy was at the front desk, the guy quickly grabbed the towel and secretly gave us as he was not allowed to so, the Iranian guy went on saying ‘go on save her life’, somehow we both felt there is still a hope of humanity somewhere. Right after we gave the towel, the dude helping out said we needed water to clean her face as she was covered it blood and it isn’t a pleasant thing for her as well, so Steve turned around and asked for water in Tamil Language as many of the ‘’spectators’’ were Indians, all he got was a blank stare, being all annoyed I told Steve to go back to the restaurant we dine in earlier and ask them for water. The people who worked at the Middle-Eastern oriented restaurant willing gave a mineral water with no charges at all and gave us a smile that just gave us back the determination of saving this lady. Almost 35 minutes plus later, (yes the pizza guy would have arrived earlier) the ambulance finally arrived, the paramedics were rather grumpy and pushed us aside including the American guy who was a doctor, the American guy kept on saying that take her fast she lost a lot of blood and need’s transfusion ASAP, however even after me translating it in BM, I got an answer of “aku tahulah apa aku buat”,, the paramedic untied the towel and tied the injury with a proper bandage which was a waste of the damn time and he started questioning her on which part of her body injures, the American guy kept on telling to me that they’re going to lose her if they waste more time as she lost a whole lot of blood already, again, her IC was an issue and finally the paramedic took her of, the police uncle came to me shook my hand and Steve’s and thanking us, and he told us that the lady has a case issue and after this she has to report to the police station , all I said was well save her first, As we walked away the Americans approached us before they left and they said that they really hope she would be fine and they’re rather disappointed with Malaysian’s attitude. We thanked them as they helped a lot. This whole scene literally changed my whole perception, we felt a little ‘super-hero’-ish that we’re not doctors but somehow contributed in saving someone’s life. What kept us thinking is it’s sad that us, Malaysians, we’re somehow lacking of humanity, from the security guard, bystanders, the hospital nurse being rude and the incapability of the cops. Im not gonna discriminate I love Malaysia like many of us do, and I am proud of being one, however, today, it’s sad to say that we’re lacking of humanity, we rather stay on duty than giving a towel to save a life. What if tomorrow, you’re in another country, lying on the streets for any reason covered in blood and nobody helps you? What use of us praying every day when a u can’t help in such situation? Im proud of myself and my brother Steve, cause today, we helped in saving someone’s life, it’s not our legal duty to do so, but it’s our moral duty, question to ask yourself, how far is your faith in the religion of humanity, thank you for reading this, share this, to create a slightest awareness, I might not do much but to all extend I can I will do , cause God is in every soul, if you don’t see god in all, you don’t see god at all,,,
