1940 was a great year. The PA turnpike opened, no wonder it is always being repaired it is old. A car cost on average $800, and gas was only .80 a gallon, bread was 8 cents a loaf and milk was 34 cents a gal. the average salary was only $1900 and the minimum wage was .30 an hour. the average house cost $6500 and it only cost the government .03 cents to mail the first SS checks on Jan 30th. FDR was elected for his 3rd term as President of the US. I found 13 famous people born in that year among them was Al Pacino, Chuck Norris, Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Patrick Stewart, Tom Brokaw, Richard Pryor, John Lennon and Nancy Sinatra, James Caan, Ted Koppel, Jack Nicklaus But to me the most famous was born on Friday February 2, ELAINE (EVJEN) SENSKI, MY MOM who will be celebrating her 74th birthday tomorrow. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, YOU ARE TO ME THE BEST MOM ANY ONE COULD EVER HOPE FOR. LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER
