1944/2014 | The 70th anniversary of deportation and extermination of Jews from Hungary in Auschwitz On 4 May 1944 in Vienna, during a conference regarding planning timetables of trains with transports of Jews deported from Hungary: from the Carpathian region (Zone I), from 10 camps with about 200,000 Jews and from the region of Transylvania (Zone II), where about 110,000 Jews lived, it was decided that from mid-May 4 transports will depart daily, each with 3,000 Jews. Completion of the deportation from these zones was expected in mid-June.
