(1988 to 1992) From the age of 8 to 12 (Philippines) Ive always gone to Santo Domingo for the annual extravagant procession of La Naval. I would go early in the afternoon two hours before procession time and watch the florists decorate the carozas. I memorized and learned all the Saints stories beforehand. Then time when they leave the church (video attached). Since I was a little kid, I was able to maneuver around without getting hassled or noticed by security. I was a heavy Marian devotee (especially coming from Lourdes) and I think this was a gift to me by Mama Mary. To be able to experience everything during the procession. To the time during enthronement https://youtube/watch?v=ITlDuLASF7g I was right there beside the La Naval Caroza and the sacristans and priests. I would go home with flowers from each one of the carozas. Knowing which came from what Saint. My parents had always shared the story. When it came time for any procession in town. They never wondered or worried my whereabouts. I would be gone from 4ish and come back late 9-10ish. And if they happen to see where I am, they would always see me next to the Virgin Mary carozas or some Saints caroza - helping give flowers after the procession, or take their cloths to get blessing from the statue. ~ Such times have changed.
