1998 I have flash vision, they only last a few seconds but what an impact they can make on another’s life. In 1998, I was sitting alone having my morning coffee and a smoke. I had a vision of a raising bear, it did this three times, rose up out of the earth, stood in front of me, and then the name raising bear came to me. It didn’t make any senses. A few weeks past, and I met a woman who was Native American, she was a receptions at a locate office I was doing some work at, and we took a break together. She began to tell me about her husband, she said he was very depressed and she couldn’t help him. She asked me to go and speak to him. She told me he sees himself as a failure that he had failed as a shaman to his people. She told me he will listen to you, because you’re like him. He won’t speak to anyone else. So I drove out to their place, took some sage with me, and a bird feather as a gift, I had no idea what I would say to him, I never met him before. We sat on the side of a hill burn some sage; I gave him the feather, I was really at a loss as to what to say. So I began to speak to him about spirit, and about life itself. As we were speaking to one another, I asked him do you have visions. He told me he had vision for his people, and I stopped him and said No, No!!.... Do you have vision? Do you see things? I told about my vision of the raising bear? He looked at me he was shocked; it shook him up pretty good. And he began to ask me many question about what I had seen in the vision, I told him what little I knew that the bear it was very large, a shade of brown, it was big it was huge it stood in front of me with its arm’ and month open, I had given him a feather, he looked at it and took it and push it into his medicine bag that he wore about his neck. After I left him, I ran into his wife a few days later, she told me he was a changed man. No longer depressed the sadness had left him, she had never seen him so happy before. She said what did you do? What did you do?....I told her nothing really, I really didn’t do anything, She asked me to go and see him that he is a change man. So I drove out to their place, she was right he was changed, no depression, he was happier than a peacock, putting a new roof on their house, big smile. He gave me a hatband, I still have it, I keep it in my turtle shell, I have many gifts that people have given me over the years. But as I was preparing to leave I was standing by my truck, I asked him about his name. I couldn’t even repeat it, His wife her name meant “white fox that runs along the river” his name was Native so I thought it would have meaning as well, it stands to reason. So I asked him does your name have a meaning, with a big grin on his face he said yes it means raising bear. Peace…….
