1999 Class Officer Elections – VP. It’s amazing to see that there are people who are so enthusiastic about being part of giving back and who have the ability to spark great ideas from the collective on how to give back as a class! To round out the 3 other VP candidate posted threads in this forum (and to keep the post brief), attached is an overview of a how I would approach the VP’s duty of “assembling, updating and publishing the class plan”. This is the only duty specific to the role and is a skillset I’ve professionally focused on since leaving the submarine service. This type of strategic planning is something that I truly enjoy and is how I’d like to give back; it’s the sole reason for submitting to the VP position. The approach I would offer is one of collaboration aimed at engaging our class in the development of solutions, drawing on focused recommendations, and a drive to equipping us for implementing a 5 year class plan. My background brings together best practices from both private and public sectors to support this facilitation. I firmly believe that anyone of us is perfectly capable of filling these shoes and as we all have demonstrated… it doesn’t matter if there is a title assigned or we’re behind the scenes we are all willing and able to effect positive change.
