2/3/59 1:00am- Sick and tired or 2 broken down buses with no heat while traveling the upper Midwest in sub-zero weather; Buddy Holly rents a plane to fly his band to Fargo, ND, where the next night they will be playing a concert in Moorhead, MN. Waylon Jennings gives up his seat to the Big Booper, who had the Flu, and Tommy Allsup tossed a coin with a persistent Ritchie Valens for the last seat. The small 4 seat Beechcraft Bonanza takes off from Mason city, IA at 1am, and the trip to Fargo should take approximately 3 1/2 hours. When no word is heard from the Pilot, Roger Peterson, the ownerJerry Dwyer, takes to the skies in search of the missing plane. The wreckage of the plane is discovered I the corn field of Albert Juhl at 9:30am. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson and the pilot, Roger Peterson, were killed when their small plane crashed into the field outside of Clear Lake, Iowa. This has become known as The Day The Music Died youtu.be/uAsV5-Hv-7U
