2 Chronicles 12 And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the Lord, (2 Chronicles 12:2 KJV) What stood out to me on this passage was the fact that it was the transgression of Jerusalem that caused Egypt to rise against them and it wasnt just a random act; It was The Lord who had sent Shishak against Jerusalem, and God had control the whole entire time. Later on the people of Jerusalem humble themselves and The Lord shows them mercy and granted them some deliverance (verse 7). Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous. (2 Chronicles 12:6 KJV) This is a perfect example of us as Christians and how we do also sin against God and there is consequences for these transgressions. The bible clearly states that There is none righteous no not one (Romans 3:10). This shows us our need for a God, and how when we do sin we need to humble ourselves and go straight to God right away to confess our sins because He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9). We shouldnt let the sin muster up inside us because it will get ugly and tare us apart. Deal with sin right away, we cant be prideful, and we need give it to The Lord and He will show us mercy. -Alex
