2 Loggers from Whatcom County and 2 more from out of State lost their lives....Where There Walks A Logger, There Walks A man Ive seen two loggers stand toe to toe and slug it out in a free for all fight And when it was over they got up, shook hands, laughed, and drank together the rest of the night. Ive seen a logger pick up a baby bird and put it back in its nest. And Ive never heard one criticize a man when he knew he was doing his best. Theyre a rough, rowdy breed of people, but its a rough life they live and most of the time their jobs demanding just a little bit more than they can give. They come home at night so dog-gonned tired, bruised, cut and sore get up the next morning with a big ol grin and go right back for some more, to the same steep, rutty hillsides they were cussing the day before. I think a logger loves his family just a little bit more than most men cause he knows if he makes one mistake, hell never get to see them again. A line can break, a tailhold slip and cut a man right in two. Dangers there lurking everywhere and the rewards just all to few. But its the life he chose and whichever way it goes, his family will understand, cause when he walks through that door at night, they know that there walks a man. Loggers dont sit around much discussin church, religion, or prayer, but a wise man once said, if you ever get to heaven, youll be surprised who youll run into there. And when the last trumpets been sounded and all of lifes secrets unfold Well find more than one set of caulk boot tracks on those streets that are solid gold.
